Examples of the type of work undertaken include:

​Judicial Review

  • advising on the merits of potential challenges to certain decisions made by public bodies

  • conducting judicial review litigation, including compliance with the pre-action protocol

  • representing clients in the Administrative Court, Court of Appeal and Supreme Court

  • advising on challenging public procurement decisions


Information Rights 

  • assisting clients in drafting freedom of information requests under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA) and the Environmental Information Regulations 2004 (EIRs) and any related complaints to the Information Commissioners Office (ICO)

  • appealing ICO decisions to the First-tier Tribunal (General Regulatory Chamber), (formerly the Information Tribunal)

  • advising on data protection legislation, the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR)​​ and the new European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)


Public Inquiries​

  • advising and representing clients at public inquiries​, including:

    • planning inquiries held by the Planning Inspectorate

    • inquiries held by the Marine Management Organisation (MMO) under section 70 of the Marine and Coastal Access Act 2009 (MCAA) to assist marine licensing decisions

    • inquiries where decisions on marine licensing decisions have been 'recovered' from the MMO for determination by the Secretary of State. Such inquiries may be requested by affected Local Planning Authorities (LPAs) and Inshore Fisheries and Conservation Authorities (IFCAs).
